VIETNAM WEATHER

Vietnam has a tropical climate varies greatly from North to South. The weather in Vietnam is dictated by two seasons - the Southwest rainy season from April to September and the northeast monsoon from October to late March or early April.  As far as planning goes, the easiest way to get your travel around it is to break up the country into three zones - the north, the central and the south with slightly different seasons and climates between the areas. While Northern Vietnam has a cool to cold season and a warm to hot wet season (from April to October), Central Vietnam undergoes warm weather from July to October and wet, colder weather from November to May and Southern Vietnam, especially the Mekong Delta, gets plenty of rain andhot, humid weather during the southwest monsoon from April to September. This article will demonstrate Northern Vietnam weather with four main timeframes with travel advices.

Northen Vietnam Weather February to March

Drizzle, humid and wet is what a Hanoian would say about the weather in the Spring, this also represent the weather of the North. The average temperature varies from 15 to 20 Celcius degree. This is not the best time to visit the Northern part, however Tet-holiday is most important, essential festival that every tourist must take part in.

Northen Vietnam Weather April to August

Some like it hot, yes, this is a perfect time to travel up the North with the average temperature rise up to 25 – 30 Celsius Degrees.  The time between the end of July to the first 2 weeks of August is the hottest period when the heat can hit 35 – 40 Degrees. This time is also featured by few heavy rains in the afternoon. The destinations you should visit this time :

Northen Vietnam Weather  September to November

The fall is quite short but is lovely and dreamy time for travellers to visit the North especially Hanoi. The temperature is between 20 – 25 Celsius Degrees with warm sunlight, cool breeze and dry atmosphere. – Hanoi is for the one who love seeing the leaves changing color, enjoying some local autumn specialties such as young green rice, living slowly for a to appreciate the beauty of your life.

Northen Vietnam Weather  December and January

The cold weather of Northern Vietnam will start from December and may last until February, with the average temperature of 15 -20 degree. However, sometimes it may drop to below 10 degree, and the high humidity will lend a hand in making the weather bitter cold. Bring some serious warm clothes is necessary. This is a good time to travel to the South for different experience.
